KATHMANDU, Sept 25 – An Indian climber was among 26 mountaineers who successfully reached the summit of Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m), the world’s eighth-highest peak, on Wednesday in Nepal’s Gorkha District.
Dwarka Vishwanath Dokhe joined climbers from more than a dozen countries for the ascent, according to Pemba Sherpa of 8K Expeditions, which organized the climb.
“Twenty-six climbers, including 12 Nepali Sherpa guides and an Indian national, stood atop Mt. Manaslu Wednesday morning,” Sherpa confirmed.
The climbers faced challenging weather conditions but made a successful push to the summit early in the morning.
Mt. Manaslu, part of the Himalayas, has grown in popularity in recent years as a major destination for mountaineers after Everest and K2.
