DHAKA (Oct 9) — Bangladesh recorded four more dengue-related deaths and 781 new hospitalizations in the past 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Wednesday.
All four fatalities were reported from Dhaka North and South City Corporations, which also recorded the highest number of new infections — 162 cases in Dhaka North and 116 cases in Dhaka South.
Outside the capital, Barishal Division reported 130 new cases, followed by Dhaka Division (outside City Corporation) with 101, Chattogram with 82, Rajshahi with 63, Khulna with 48, Mymensingh with 40, Rangpur with 32, and Sylhet with 7 cases.
During the same period, 798 patients were discharged after recovery, bringing total recoveries in 2025 to 50,209, according to the DGHS press release.
So far this year, 52,885 dengue cases have been recorded across the country — 61.1 percent male and 38.9 percent female. The death toll now stands at 224.
By comparison, Bangladesh reported 1,01,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths in 2024 — the highest annual tally on record.
