LAHORE, Sept 19 – Pakistan’s jailed former prime minister Imran Khan on Friday accused Army Chief Gen Asim Munir of subjecting him and his wife, Bushra Bibi, to “mental torture” in prison in an attempt to break their resolve.
The 72-year-old former cricketer-turned-politician has been incarcerated for over two years in multiple cases and is currently serving time in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. Bushra Bibi joined him in jail earlier this year after the couple’s conviction in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption cases.
Khan, who has repeatedly accused the military establishment of interfering in politics, claims this psychological pressure is aimed at forcing him to submit to the current regime.
