C P Radhakrishnan to take oath as India’s Vice President on September 12 at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

New Delhi, September 10: Vice President-elect C P Radhakrishnan will be sworn in by President Droupadi Murmu on Friday, September 12, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, officials confirmed.

Radhakrishnan, 67, a senior BJP leader and former Governor of Jharkhand and Telangana, secured the post after defeating the joint opposition nominee B Sudershan Reddy by 152 votes in the vice-presidential election held on Tuesday.

The Vice President serves as the ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, making the role crucial in the functioning of India’s Parliament. With Radhakrishnan’s election, the ruling NDA has strengthened its hold on key constitutional positions, including the offices of the President and Vice President.
