Bareilly, Sept 29 – A three-day internet shutdown in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, has brought trade, banking, and healthcare services to a grinding halt, with businesses estimating losses worth hundreds of crores.
From small-scale retailers to large wholesalers, economic activity has nearly collapsed. Shopping malls report drastically reduced footfall, while online transactions, e-commerce deliveries, and digital payments remain suspended.
Banking and Healthcare Hit Hard
Banks and ATMs have struggled to function due to the outage, leaving customers unable to complete basic transactions. Hospitals and clinics have also faced difficulties accessing patient records, digital prescriptions, and telemedicine services.
Local traders’ associations have urged authorities to restore services immediately, citing the cascading effect on Bareilly’s economy.
