China Calls on Nepal to Restore Order After PM Oli’s Resignation Amid Protests

China urges Nepal to restore social order after protests led to PM K P Sharma Oli’s resignation, calls for stability in the region.

Beijing, September 10: China on Wednesday urged “all sections” of Nepal to properly address domestic issues and work toward restoring peace and stability following days of violent protests that led to the resignation of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli.

“China and Nepal are traditional friendly neighbours,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a media briefing, marking Beijing’s first official response to the political turmoil in Nepal.

Lin expressed hope that Nepal would “restore social order and regional stability as soon as possible,” underscoring China’s interest in maintaining stability in the Himalayan nation, where Beijing has invested heavily in infrastructure and trade projects in recent years.
