New Delhi, August 29: Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has unveiled ambitious clean energy expansion plans, announcing the launch of a large-scale battery giga factory in 2026 and a target to produce 3 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2032.
At the company’s annual general meeting, Anant Ambani — executive director of RIL and youngest son of chairman Mukesh Ambani — outlined the vision of creating the world’s most integrated new energy ecosystem. The initiative spans the full value chain: solar module manufacturing, large-scale renewable power generation, advanced battery storage systems, electrolysers for green hydrogen, and downstream production of green fuels such as ammonia, methanol, biofuels, and sustainable aviation fuel.
Ambani highlighted that Reliance’s solar electricity project will be three times the size of Singapore, reinforcing the company’s push to replace fossil fuels with renewable energy solutions. He also stressed that these investments will cater to both India’s domestic needs and the global export market.
The strategy underscores Reliance’s pivot from oil and petrochemicals toward renewables, positioning it as a key player in India’s journey to net-zero emissions by 2070.
