NEW DELHI (Aug 20): Senior Indian and American defence officials met in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss defence procurement and reaffirm their commitment to strengthening the India-US defence partnership, the Ministry of Defence said.
Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence (South & Southeast Asia), US Department of Defence, Dr Andrew Byers, met Joint Secretary (Maritime & Systems Acquisition) Dinesh Kumar. The ministry said in a post on X that the two sides held discussions on key procurement matters and reiterated their shared commitment to deepen cooperation.
Earlier, during a briefing on August 14, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal underlined the India-US defence partnership as a central pillar of bilateral ties. He highlighted the ongoing cooperation under foundational defence agreements, the upcoming 21st edition of the joint military exercise Yudh Abhyas in Alaska, and the scheduled 2+2 Intersessional meeting later this month.
Last month, top officials from both countries also met during Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025, where discussions focused on strengthening strategic military coordination, operational readiness, and joint efforts to ensure peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
