LUCKNOW: (Oct 18) India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday issued a sharp warning to Pakistan, saying “every inch of its territory lies within range of BrahMos,” while describing Operation Sindoor as “only a trailer.”
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the first batch of BrahMos missiles produced at the new BrahMos Aerospace facility in Lucknow, Singh said the successful operation earlier this year had demonstrated India’s growing military prowess and strategic confidence.
“BrahMos is not just a missile, it is proof of India’s strategic confidence,” he said, addressing a packed gathering alongside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. “From the Army to the Navy and the Air Force, BrahMos has become a key pillar of our defence forces.”
Referring to Operation Sindoor, Singh said it proved that “victory has become a habit for India.” The operation, conducted in May, saw Indian forces strike terror infrastructure and key defence installations in Pakistan using indigenously developed BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, following a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that killed 26 people.
“What happened during Operation Sindoor was just a trailer,” Singh said. “It made Pakistan realise that if India could create Pakistan, then if the time comes… I need not say more—you are wise enough to understand.”
The Defence Minister praised the Lucknow facility as a symbol of India’s “self-reliance and technological confidence.” He said the production of BrahMos missiles in Uttar Pradesh marks a major milestone in the Defence Industrial Corridor initiative and reflects India’s transformation from being an importer to an exporter of high-end defence equipment.
“Lucknow is not just my parliamentary constituency, it resides in my soul,” Singh said. “The successful production of BrahMos missiles here shows that what was once a dream has now become a reality.”
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called the event a moment of pride for Uttar Pradesh and a reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ vision.
“Under the Defence Industrial Corridor, Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a major hub for indigenous defence manufacturing,” Adityanath said. “The BrahMos unit is a shining example of that. With a missile like BrahMos, India is now able to meet not only its own security needs but also those of friendly nations.”
The state-of-the-art BrahMos Aerospace unit, inaugurated in May, houses advanced facilities for missile assembly, integration, and testing. Each missile undergoes rigorous trials before being cleared for deployment by India’s armed forces.
Officials said the milestone will give a strong push to India’s defence exports and strengthen its resolve to achieve self-reliance in military technology.
