KATHMANDU: (Oct 22) India has donated 81 school buses to educational institutions across 48 districts in Nepal, including several in the disaster-affected areas of Koshi province, as part of its ongoing commitment to support Nepal’s education sector.
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said the donation reflects the “long-standing development partnership and friendship” between the two neighbouring countries.
The school buses will benefit institutions in districts such as Ilam, Jhapa, and Udayapur—areas recently affected by natural disasters—as well as other provinces where access to safe and reliable school transport remains limited.
India has been a consistent partner in Nepal’s education development, contributing to the construction of schools, libraries, and hostels under various High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs).
Over the years, New Delhi has provided more than 900 vehicles, including ambulances and school buses, to local institutions across Nepal to strengthen infrastructure in health and education.
