NEW DELHI (Aug 20): India on Wednesday successfully conducted a test of its Agni-5 intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha, the Defence Ministry announced.
The launch, carried out under the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), validated “all operational and technical parameters,” the ministry said in a brief statement.
The Agni-5, part of India’s long-range nuclear-capable missile program, is seen as a cornerstone of the country’s strategic deterrence capabilities. The missile is designed with advanced navigation and guidance systems and is capable of striking targets at significant distances.
The successful test comes as India continues to strengthen its defence preparedness amid regional security challenges.
