LAHORE, September 4: As devastating floods in Pakistan’s Punjab province have displaced over 3.7 million people in the past two weeks, the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML)—widely believed to be the political front of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed’s banned groups—has become active in relief operations across flood-hit districts.
On Thursday, the PMML released a photo showing Faisalabad Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Nadeem Nasir traveling by boat with PMML members to visit flood-affected areas. The visit reportedly took place on Wednesday.
However, the Punjab provincial government, led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has not issued any official statement regarding the presence of its senior official alongside PMML workers.
The development has raised eyebrows given the PMML’s alleged links to banned outfits, even as provincial authorities struggle to manage the large-scale humanitarian crisis triggered by the floods.
