DGCA Takes Action Against Air India Over Emergency Slide Inspection Lapse

New Delhi, July 28 – India’s aviation watchdog DGCA has launched enforcement proceedings against Air India after discovering that a routine emergency slide inspection on one of its aircraft was overdue, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol informed the Rajya Sabha on Monday.

During a routine audit, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) found the lapse and immediately grounded the aircraft until the issue was rectified. The regulator has also initiated action against the responsible Air India personnel, citing violations under its Enforcement Policy and Procedure Manual.

The development raises fresh concerns about aircraft maintenance compliance at the Tata-owned airline, especially at a time when operational scrutiny in India’s aviation sector has intensified.
