Bangladesh Forms High-Level Commission to Probe Air Force Jet Crash into Dhaka School

Dhaka, July 27 – The death toll in the Bangladesh Air Force jet crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka has risen to 34, after a 13-year-old child, Zarif, died from severe burn injuries on Saturday morning.

Medical authorities at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery confirmed that two more children—Abdul Musabbir Makin (13) and Afroz Aiman (10)—also succumbed to their injuries on Friday. Most of the victims in this tragic accident have been identified as school children.

The crash occurred on July 21, when an F-7 BGI training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed into the school building shortly after takeoff. The incident has triggered national mourning and international medical collaboration.

Five patients remain in critical condition, with some on life support. However, doctors report slight improvement in two cases and say up to five patients may be discharged soon.

A medical team from India has joined efforts to support local doctors, alongside experts from Singapore and China. The Indian High Commission in Dhaka confirmed that the team conducted detailed consultations and assessments of critical patients.

This support follows Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance to extend medical assistance to Bangladesh in the aftermath of the crash.
