General Dwivedi visited Sri Lanka from January 7 to 8 as part of ongoing efforts to deepen military-to-military engagement and enhance coordination on regional security challenges.

According to the Indian High Commission in Colombo, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, expanding collaboration in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR), and reinforcing cooperation in areas of shared strategic interest.

“The interaction reflected the shared commitment of India and Sri Lanka towards regional security, stability and an enduring defence partnership,” the High Commission said in a statement posted on social media on Thursday.

The visit comes amid broader efforts by India to intensify defence diplomacy in the Indian Ocean region, where cooperation with Sri Lanka is seen as a key pillar for maritime security, disaster response, and regional stability in South Asia.
