Pak troops foil suicide attack on camp in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; 4 terrorists killed

Pakistani troops foiled a suicide attack on a security camp in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali area, killing four terrorists, including the bomber, with no troop casualties reported.

PESHAWAR (Oct 17) – Pakistani security forces on Friday foiled a major suicide attack on their camp in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing four terrorists, including the suicide bomber, officials said.

According to security officials, a suicide attacker rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the camp’s boundary wall, triggering a powerful blast that damaged parts of the perimeter. Immediately afterward, three armed militants attempted to storm the facility but were shot dead by alert troops before they could breach the compound.

“There were no casualties among the soldiers,” a senior security official said, adding that the quick response prevented what could have been a large-scale tragedy.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) is expected to release more details following an ongoing search operation in the area to trace possible facilitators.

The Mir Ali region, near the Afghan border, has long been a hotbed of militant activity, with frequent attacks targeting military and police outposts. The Pakistani army has intensified operations in the tribal districts over the past few months following a surge in militant assaults claimed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and affiliated groups.

The latest incident comes amid heightened tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where cross-border clashes this week killed dozens before a fragile ceasefire was announced on Wednesday.
