India-China Relations Improving, Says NSA Doval in Talks With Wang Yi

New Delhi, India | August 19: National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval on Tuesday said that India-China relations have shown an “upward trend” over the past nine months, with peace prevailing along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Doval made the remarks during boundary talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi under the framework of the Special Representatives (SR) mechanism.

In his televised opening statement, the NSA recalled his December visit to Beijing for the last round of SR-level talks and noted that the border situation has remained largely quiet since then.

The meeting comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s expected visit to China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, where both sides are likely to explore ways to stabilise relations further.
