ISLAMABAD (Aug 18): Pakistan has confirmed two additional poliovirus cases, pushing the nationwide tally to 21 this year, local media reported on Monday.
According to Geo News, the latest cases were detected in Kohistan Lower district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Badin district of Sindh.
The World Health Organization notes that Pakistan and Afghanistan remain the only two countries where polio continues to be endemic, despite global eradication efforts. Health authorities are maintaining surveillance and vaccination campaigns to contain the spread.
