Sri Lanka, Singapore to Collaborate on AI Development Under New MoU

Sri Lanka’s Digital Economy Ministry has approved a new MoU with the National University of Singapore to foster AI research, training, and collaboration.

Colombo, July 22: Sri Lanka’s Cabinet has approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Digital Economy and the National University of Singapore (NUS) to advance artificial intelligence (AI) collaboration.

The agreement aims to foster joint research, skill development, and technology exchange between Sri Lanka and Singapore through NUS’s national program, AI Singapore. It aligns with Sri Lanka’s broader strategy to accelerate digital transformation and build capacity in emerging technologies.

The partnership will include AI training programs, collaborative innovation projects, and shared access to technical expertise. Officials said the MoU is intended to strengthen Sri Lanka’s ability to harness AI for addressing both domestic challenges and global opportunities.

Government officials described the initiative as a critical step in expanding the country’s digital economy and deepening international ties in tech and research.
