ISLAMABAD: (Oct 22) The Pakistan Navy has seized narcotics valued at nearly USD 1 billion during a major maritime operation in the Arabian Sea, according to the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) — a 47-nation naval alliance promoting maritime security.
In a statement, the CMF said Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Yarmook, operating under the Saudi-led Combined Task Force 150, intercepted multiple vessels carrying drugs during Operation Al Masmak, which began on October 16.
The seized narcotics, worth approximately USD 972 million, represent one of the largest maritime drug hauls recorded by a CMF member state.
The CMF, comprising 47 nations, operates across 3.2 million square miles of international waters, ensuring the protection of key shipping routes and disrupting illegal trafficking networks across the Indian Ocean Region.
Pakistan has been an active member of the CMF, regularly contributing naval assets to counter narcotics and terrorism operations at sea.
