PESHAWAR, Oct 24: Three policemen, including a senior officer, were killed and another injured in two back-to-back explosions on Friday in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district, police said.
The first blast struck the Ghulmina police check-post, causing panic among residents and security personnel in the area. As officers rushed to respond, a second explosion occurred nearby, targeting those at the scene.
Police said the twin attacks appeared to be a coordinated assault aimed at inflicting maximum casualties. The injured officer was shifted to a nearby hospital, while security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the perpetrators.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but the region has witnessed a resurgence of militant violence, with several incidents targeting police and security forces in recent months.
