KARACHI (Nov 4): Pakistan’s army said on Monday that four terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted over the weekend in Balochistan’s Kalat district, as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the restive province.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation took place on the night of November 1, following credible intelligence about militant activity in the area.
“During the operation, troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, and as a result, four terrorists were eliminated,” the army said, adding that the militants were “sent to hell.”
Security sources said the operation was part of a broader crackdown on insurgent groups blamed for a surge in attacks targeting security forces and infrastructure projects in the province.
Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but least populated province, has witnessed a spike in militant violence in recent months, with separatist and extremist groups carrying out attacks against the state and Chinese-backed development projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The army said a sanitisation operation is ongoing to eliminate any remaining terrorist presence in the region.
