IND: PM Modi Urges Indians to Support Local Industry, Promotes ‘GST Bachat Utsav’

PM Modi urges Indians to support local products, promotes ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ with lower GST rates to boost savings, jobs, and domestic industry.

NEW DELHI, Sept 22 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called on Indians to buy and sell locally made products, stressing that doing so strengthens the economy, creates jobs, and supports millions of families.

“Every time you buy a product made by our own artisans, workers, and industries, you are helping many families earn their living and creating job opportunities for our youth,” Modi said in a message shared on X (formerly Twitter).

The prime minister urged shopkeepers and traders to prioritize Indian-made products, saying, “Let us proudly say – what we buy is Swadeshi. Let us proudly say – what we sell is Swadeshi.”

He also encouraged state governments to improve the investment climate and boost domestic manufacturing.

The appeal comes as India celebrates Navaratri and prepares to roll out reduced GST rates under the ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ from September 22. “Lower GST rates mean more savings for every household and greater ease for businesses,” Modi wrote, linking the festival season with economic reforms.
