Pakistan: Blast Near Paramilitary HQ in Quetta Kills 10, Injures Over 30

A bomb blast near the Frontier Constabulary HQ in Quetta, Pakistan, killed 10 and injured over 30. Security forces have cordoned off the area.

Karachi, Sept 30 – At least 10 people were killed and more than 30 injured on Tuesday after a powerful bomb blast ripped through a crowded street near the Frontier Constabulary (FC) headquarters in Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province.

Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar confirmed the casualties. “Ten people have been killed while 32 were injured in the blast,” he told reporters.

The Attack

  • The explosion occurred during peak activity hours outside the FC compound.

  • Witnesses said several nearby shops and vehicles were destroyed by the impact.

  • Security forces cordoned off the area and emergency responders rushed the injured to Quetta’s Civil Hospital, where several remain in critical condition.

No group has yet claimed responsibility, but Balochistan has long faced separatist violence and militant attacks targeting security forces and state installations.

Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but least developed province, has seen repeated attacks on security personnel amid a decades-long separatist insurgency. Militants have often targeted paramilitary convoys, checkpoints, and government offices.

The latest attack underscores the fragile security environment despite counterterrorism operations carried out in the province.
