DHAKA: (Oct 28) At least four more people have died of dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,041 new patients were hospitalised, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the latest deaths, three were reported from Dhaka South City Corporation and one from Mymensingh division, the DGHS said in its daily update.
With these new figures, the death toll has climbed to 273, while the total number of dengue cases since January has reached 67,464.
Currently, 2,787 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country, most of them in the capital Dhaka, which remains the worst-hit region.
Health authorities have urged city corporations and local administrations to intensify mosquito control drives and public awareness campaigns as the post-monsoon period continues to see high transmission rates.
