PESHAWAR (Oct 7) — In a shocking incident, Sanam Javed, a prominent member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) social media team, was allegedly abducted by unidentified men from a busy road in Peshawar’s Red Zone late Monday night, police said.
According to reports, Javed was stopped by five men around 10:40 pm and forcibly taken away in a vehicle. The incident occurred in one of the most secure parts of the city, raising serious concerns about safety and law enforcement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
An FIR has been lodged at the East Cantonment Police Station on Tuesday based on a complaint filed by her friend, police confirmed.
The incident comes amid increasing reports of harassment and arrests of PTI leaders and supporters following recent political unrest in the country. Sanam Javed, known for her vocal support of PTI and its founder Imran Khan, has previously faced police action and arrests during anti-government demonstrations.
Authorities have not yet confirmed who was behind the abduction, and investigations are underway. PTI leaders have condemned the incident and demanded her immediate recovery, calling it another instance of state suppression.
