ISLAMABAD, Sept 24 – Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Washington on Thursday for talks with US President Donald Trump, as both countries seek to reset bilateral ties, diplomatic sources confirmed.
Shehbaz, who is currently in New York for the UN General Assembly (UNGA) session, had an informal exchange with President Trump on Tuesday during a meeting between the US leader and heads of eight Islamic-Arab nations, including Pakistan, the Foreign Ministry said.
The Express Tribune reported that Shehbaz will briefly leave New York for Washington to hold formal talks with Trump on issues ranging from security cooperation to trade and regional stability.
The meeting comes amid efforts by both sides to strengthen strategic and economic cooperation, with Pakistan seeking to address regional security challenges and revive its economic engagement with the US.
