India, UK Sign Pact to Boost Quantum Technology Collaboration

India and the UK sign a pact to create a joint quantum technology value chain, mapping research-to-market collaboration under the UK-India Technology Security Initiative.

LONDON, Sept 18: The Quantum Ecosystems Technology Council of India (QETCI) and the UK-based India Global Forum (IGF) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a joint India-UK quantum value chain, mapping the entire journey from research to commercial adoption.

The agreement, announced Thursday, aims to identify technological capabilities, investment opportunities, and innovation gaps between the two countries. It will form the backbone of a practical roadmap to drive collaboration across academia, industry, and startups.

The pact builds on the UK-India Technology Security Initiative (TSI), signed by Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Keir Starmer in July, which highlighted quantum technology as a priority area for research and strategic cooperation.

According to both partners, the India-UK quantum map will serve as a “playbook” for two-way R&D, investment flows, and commercialization opportunities, helping to strengthen a rapidly evolving technology ecosystem.
