New Delhi, Sept. 17: Pakistan has reportedly boycotted its final group-stage match against the United Arab Emirates in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, following the fallout from the recent “handshake controversy” involving match referee Andy Pycroft, according to Geo News.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has allegedly instructed the national team to remain at their hotel and not travel to the stadium. Players have been told to stay in their rooms, with their kits and luggage still on the team bus. An urgent press conference is expected to clarify the PCB’s position.
The controversy stems from a heated exchange between Pakistani players and match referee Pycroft after Pakistan’s previous game, sparking tensions that have now escalated to a potential boycott.
However, Geo News also reported that there are ongoing discussions, and the PCB might reconsider its decision before the official start time of the match.
