NEW DELHI (Aug 20): Elon Musk’s Starlink has partnered with India’s Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to use Aadhaar authentication for customer verification, an official statement said on Wednesday.
The collaboration comes after the Indian government granted approval for Starlink to provide satellite-based broadband services in the country.
“UIDAI has onboarded Starlink Satellite Communication Pvt Ltd. Starlink will use Aadhaar Authentication for customer verification, which will make the entire process smooth, secure and very easy,” the statement noted.
The move is expected to streamline the onboarding process for Starlink customers in India, where Aadhaar – the world’s largest biometric ID system – is widely used for digital identification and e-governance services.
