Operation Sindoor Paused After Objectives Met, No External Pressure: Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, July 28Defence Minister Rajnath Singh told the Lok Sabha on Monday that Operation Sindoor was “paused” only after achieving its politico-military goals, rejecting any suggestion of external pressure influencing the decision.

Singh said the armed forces carried out a precise 22-minute strike targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan. Seven camps were destroyed, and India has proof of the damage, he added. The operation was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.

“There was no pressure to stop the operation. That claim is baseless,” Singh stated, adding that it was Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations who reached out requesting a cessation.

The Minister also pushed back against US President Donald Trump’s earlier “ceasefire” claim, clarifying that the operation was non-escalatory, focused, and did not target civilians.

“India wants peace but knows how to respond when betrayed,” Singh said, calling Operation Sindoor a symbol of India’s resolve and strength.
