New Delhi, July 29 — Indian President Droupadi Murmu officially received the credentials of ambassadors and high commissioners from four countries—Dominican Republic, Timor-Leste, Sri Lanka, and Gabon—during a formal ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.

The President’s Secretariat confirmed the ceremony in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating:

“President Droupadi Murmu received credentials from Mr Francisco Manuel Compres Hernandez, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic; Mr Karlito Nunes, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste; Ms Pradeepa Mahishini Colonne, High Commissioner of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka; and Mr Guy Rodrigue Dikayi, High Commissioner of the Gabonese Republic.”

Recent Diplomatic Ceremonies

This marks the latest in a series of credential ceremonies held by President Murmu since taking office. On May 29, she received envoys from six other countries:

  • Thailand: Chavanart Thangsumphant

  • Costa Rica: Nestor Gabriel Baltodano Vargas

  • Saint Kitts and Nevis: Gurdip Bath

  • Turkey: Ali Murat Ersoy

  • Bangladesh: M Riaz Hamidullah

  • Kazakhstan: Azamat Yeskaraev

Earlier this year, on February 20, she welcomed diplomats from Denmark, Palestine, Panama, Sudan, and Guyana. Ambassadors and high commissioners at that event included:

  • Panama: Alonso Correa Miguel

  • Guyana: Dharamkumar Seeraj

  • Sudan: Mohammed Abdalla Ali Eltom

  • Denmark: Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen

  • Palestine: Abdullah Mohammad A. Abushawesh

Receiving credentials is a formal diplomatic process marking the official start of an envoy’s tenure in India. These ceremonies help strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation between India and the respective countries.
