FENI, Sept 26 – Former Bangladesh Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been included as the No. 1 member of the newly formed BNP committee for Fulgazi Sadar union in her ancestral home district of Feni.
The Fulgazi upazila BNP announced full committees for six unions on Wednesday night, each with a 10-member advisory council and a 71-member executive committee.
Khaleda, who has repeatedly been elected MP from the Feni-1 constituency (Fulgazi upazila), has been given the top position in the Sadar union committee.
Fulgazi upazila BNP Convener Fakhrul Alam Swapon and Member Secretary Abul Hossain Bhuiyan approved the new committees, while Monir Ahmad was named president and Md Yasin Mahmud Mozumder general secretary of the Sadar union committee.
Convener Fakhrul said the committees will strengthen BNP’s grassroots activities ahead of the upcoming national election, adding that Khaleda is expected to contest from this seat.
