SRINAGAR (Nov 5): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said that the peace and progress seen in Jammu and Kashmir today have come after “huge sacrifices” made over the past five years, and urged people to stand united against forces seeking to disturb stability in the region.
Speaking at the international symposium on ‘Peace, People and Possibilities in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory’ organised by Vishwagram, a non-profit organisation, Sinha said the union territory is witnessing a “new era of development and normalcy.”
“Countless individuals — security personnel and civilians alike — have sacrificed their lives to restore peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Their contribution has paved the way for a progressive, peaceful, and prosperous region,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are now experiencing “fear-free governance” and improved opportunities across sectors including infrastructure, education, and entrepreneurship.
“Every citizen must contribute to protecting this peace. We must act as one — as a unified force — against those attempting to divide society or spread violence,” Sinha said.
He added that the government’s vision is to build a Jammu and Kashmir that is peaceful, united, and empowered, where every citizen feels the benefits of India’s growth story.
“Jammu and Kashmir today symbolises India’s resilience and determination. The new generation is shaping a bright future — one grounded in hope, innovation, and peace,” the LG said.
