New Delhi, July 18 – India on Friday hailed the United States’ decision to designate The Resistance Front (TRF) as a global terrorist outfit, calling it a “timely and important” step in the global fight against terrorism.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar described the move as a “strong affirmation” of growing India-US cooperation on counter-terrorism.
The US State Department had earlier added TRF—a known proxy of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)—to its list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO) and Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGT). The designation came in response to TRF’s alleged involvement in the April 22 Pahalgam attack in India-administered Kashmir that killed 26 civilians.
India reiterated its longstanding call for stronger international coordination against terrorism and said the US action underlines the need to hold state sponsors and enablers of terrorism accountable.
