New Delhi, July 21 — A new report released by Nexgen Exhibitions has underscored the urgent need for proactive government intervention and significant investments in artificial intelligence (AI) to safeguard India’s national security.
The study, based on responses from over 200 companies across 15 cities, revealed that 86 percent of respondents agree or strongly agree that India needs immediate government support in AI, especially in sectors critical to national defense.
The findings come amid growing concerns around cybersecurity, cross-border threats, and the rising complexity of electronic and information warfare. The report noted that AI has emerged as a transformative solution, with the potential to strengthen border security, automate surveillance, and neutralize cyber intrusions at scale.
“In an increasingly hostile digital landscape, AI is no longer optional—it is essential for protecting national sovereignty,” the report said.
Industry experts quoted in the report called for targeted government incentives, support for AI startups in the defense-tech space, and public-private partnerships to develop indigenous capabilities in military-grade AI systems.
The report also recommended building AI talent pipelines, upgrading military infrastructure with real-time data analysis tools, and deploying AI-based threat detection across national borders and sensitive installations.
The government is yet to issue an official response to the report’s findings.
