China to Help Rebuild Flood-Hit Infrastructure in Nepal’s Rasuwa, Restore Border Trade

China has pledged to help Nepal rebuild flood-hit infrastructure in Rasuwa district, including a key bridge, hydropower projects, and customs facilities, after deadly flash floods disrupted cross-border trade routes.

Kathmandu [Nepal], July 21: China on Monday pledged support to Nepal for reconstructing flood-damaged infrastructure in Rasuwa district, including the restoration of customs operations and trade routes disrupted by the July 8 flash floods, officials said.

The floods severely impacted the Nepal-China Friendship Bridge, several hydropower projects, and a dry port in the border region, halting key transit and trade operations.

The assurance came during a meeting between Nepal’s Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel and a Chinese delegation led by Chen Xiaodong, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), at the Finance Ministry in Kathmandu.

Officials said the Chinese side expressed readiness to assist in rebuilding efforts and restoring connectivity crucial to both countries’ trade and development cooperation.
