Dhaka, July 21 – At least 19 people were killed and more than 100 injured after a Bangladesh Air Force training jet crashed into Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka on Monday afternoon, sparking a massive fire and chaos across the area, The Daily Star reported.
The aircraft, an F-7 BGI training jet, took off at 1:06 PM and crashed minutes later, hitting near the school’s main gate during class hours. Rescue visuals showed thick smoke, panicked students, and emergency teams rushing to the scene.
Among the dead were a sixth-grade student and several burn victims. Over 50 people were treated for burns, and 60 were referred to specialized burn facilities. Hospitals are overwhelmed, and emergency beds are full.
Chief Adviser Mohammad Yunus expressed deep sorrow and said the government would launch a full investigation. “This is a moment of profound pain for the nation,” he posted on X, urging maximum medical support for the injured.
Fire service teams and Air Force personnel remain at the site, with rescue operations still ongoing.
