South Asian Integrated News (SAIN) Network is an independent journalism-led research, policy and advocacy organisation committed to taking journalism beyond the daily news cycle.
We go beyond reporting what happened to investigate why it happened, how it affects people, what the evidence reveals, where systems fall short, what is working, and what can be done differently.
SAIN combines journalism, data, ground-level research and policy analysis to generate credible knowledge, explore practical solutions and contribute to evidence-based, inclusive and people-centred policies.
Journalism is where SAIN starts. Research is how it goes deeper. Evidence informs our conclusions. Solutions point the way forward. Advocacy seeks to turn knowledge into people-centred policy and public action.
WHY SAIN?
South Asia faces interconnected challenges involving climate, environment, water, health, education, employment, infrastructure, inequality, urbanisation and geopolitics.
Many of these issues cannot be understood through daily reporting alone.
A headline may identify a problem. Data may show its scale. Policy documents may describe the official response. But understanding what is really happening requires going to the ground, listening to people and connecting evidence with policy and lived experience.
SAIN exists to make those connections.
