Security forces kill TTP commander in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after four-hour gunfight

A TTP commander, Hakeem Nisar, was killed in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after a four-hour gun battle with security forces and CTD in Karak’s Amberi Kalla area.

PESHAWAR (Nov 6): Pakistani security forces killed a commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during a fierce gun battle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district, officials said on Thursday.

The intelligence-based operation, jointly conducted by security forces and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), took place in the Amberi Kalla area of southern Karak. It led to the death of Hakeem Nisar, a senior TTP commander, after a four-hour-long exchange of fire.

Police said the encounter began when the security team tried to intercept militants based on intelligence inputs. The militants opened fire, prompting a retaliatory assault.

The terrorist commander Hakeem Nisar was neutralised during the gunfight,” a police spokesperson confirmed.

Three police personnel were injured in the exchange and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.

The TTP has stepped up its attacks in Pakistan’s northwestern region in recent months, targeting security personnel and government installations. Authorities have intensified counterterrorism operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan to curb the militant group’s resurgence.
