30 TTP terrorists killed in army ‘retribution operations’ in northwest Pakistan

Pakistan’s military said 30 TTP terrorists were killed in Orakzai district during retribution operations following the killing of 11 soldiers earlier this week.

PESHAWAR (Oct 10) — Pakistan’s military said on Friday that 30 Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists were killed in a series of “retribution operations” in the Orakzai district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, days after 11 soldiers — including a Lt Colonel and a Major — were slain in an ambush earlier this week.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the army, said the operations were conducted in the aftermath of the October 7 attack and were aimed at eliminating the militants behind the assault.

“Security forces have been carrying out a series of retribution operations against Fitna al-Khawarij,” the ISPR said, referring to the government’s designation for the outlawed TTP group.

On October 7, TTP militants attacked army personnel during an intelligence-based operation in Orakzai district, leading to one of the deadliest encounters in recent months.

The ISPR added that the operations will continue until the “last terrorist” in the region is neutralised, vowing that the blood of fallen soldiers “will not go in vain.”

The TTP, which has intensified attacks since the collapse of a fragile ceasefire in 2022, has been behind several deadly assaults on Pakistan’s security forces in recent months.
