NEW DELHI (Oct 11) — Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday urged nations to work together to address global challenges such as climate change, pandemics, food insecurity, and inequality, saying that solutions to such issues cannot be found in isolation.
Speaking at the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC), Birla stressed that the Commonwealth must act as a global partner in driving sustainable and inclusive growth.
“United efforts are required to combat these challenges as solutions cannot be found in isolation,” Birla said, addressing delegates from across the Commonwealth.
He noted that crises like climate change and food insecurity transcend borders, calling for greater cooperation, dialogue, and shared responsibility among member nations to protect vulnerable populations and the planet.
The Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, attended by lawmakers from over 180 legislatures, focuses on strengthening democratic institutions and parliamentary collaboration to confront shared global issues.
