Kathmandu, Oct 1 (PTI) – At least four people, including three children, were killed in a mudslide in Nepal’s southern Madhesh Province on Wednesday, police said.
The victims — three children and an elderly person — were buried alive while collecting soil from the Hardikhola river at Haripurwa Municipality-1, near the border of Sarlahi and Mahottari districts.
According to locals, a mound of earth collapsed suddenly as they were digging soil with trowels for upcoming festivals. Out of the six people present, two managed to escape.
Police and rescue teams later recovered the bodies from the site.
