KATHMANDU (Oct 4) – Nepalese authorities have restricted vehicle movement in and out of Kathmandu Valley for three days starting Saturday, following incessant rainfall and growing concerns over landslides.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) issued a notice prohibiting entry and exit of vehicles between Saturday and Monday to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.
Officials said the heavy rains have increased the risk of road blockages along major routes connecting the valley to surrounding districts.
Authorities have also urged transport operators not to run long-distance vehicles unless there is an emergency.
The NDRRMA has warned that rainfall may continue over the weekend, potentially triggering landslides and flash floods in several hilly areas across the country.
