UNITED NATIONS: (Oct 22) India, in partnership with the United Nations, has brought clean energy to 10 Pacific island nations by installing solar power systems in 12 public buildings, the Permanent Mission of India to the UN announced on Tuesday.
The initiative was carried out under the USD 150 million India–UN Development Partnership Fund, which supports sustainable development projects in developing countries.
In a post on social media, the Indian Mission said the Fund is “offering green solutions”, reflecting New Delhi’s growing commitment to renewable energy and climate resilience in small island developing states.
The project is part of India’s broader efforts to expand access to affordable clean energy under its International Solar Alliance (ISA) vision, which promotes solar energy deployment across developing regions.
Officials said the installations would help reduce carbon emissions, lower energy costs, and strengthen public infrastructure in vulnerable island economies.
