ISLAMABAD: (Oct 22) A Pakistani anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Aleema Khan, sister of former prime minister Imran Khan, for repeatedly skipping hearings in a case related to protests organised by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) last year.
According to Dawn, this is the fourth time the Rawalpindi-based ATC has issued such a warrant for Aleema’s arrest in the case connected to PTI’s November 2024 demonstrations, which turned violent in several parts of the country.
During Wednesday’s hearing, 10 of the 11 accused appeared before the court, while Aleema remained absent. The court directed authorities to ensure her presence at the next hearing and adjourned proceedings until later this month.
The case is among several pending against senior PTI members following widespread protests that erupted after the arrest of Imran Khan last year.
