Pakistan Army kills over 40 Afghan Taliban attackers in border clashes

Pakistan Army says it killed over 40 Afghan Taliban attackers while repelling multiple assaults near Spin Boldak in Balochistan, amid rising cross-border tensions.

ISLAMABAD (Oct 15) – The Pakistan Army on Wednesday said its troops repelled multiple cross-border attacks by the Afghan Taliban, killing over 40 militants in separate clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier.

According to a military statement, four coordinated assaults were launched by Afghan Taliban fighters on Pakistani positions in the Spin Boldak area of Balochistan province. Pakistani forces retaliated effectively, inflicting heavy casualties.

“While repulsing the attack, 15–20 Afghan Taliban have been killed and many injured,” the statement said, adding that the situation remained “fluid” with “further build-up reported at staging points of Fitna Al Khwarij and Afghan Taliban.”

Security sources said reinforcements had been dispatched to the area and surveillance increased to prevent further incursions.

The clashes mark a sharp escalation in tensions between the two neighbours, who have recently exchanged blame over militant sanctuaries along the porous border. Islamabad has accused Kabul’s Taliban government of harbouring the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while the Afghan side has alleged unprovoked Pakistani military strikes.
