New Delhi, September 9: External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar on Tuesday addressed the 3rd Global South Young Diplomats Forum, underscoring the solidarity and sentiment driving the Global South’s collective agenda on international platforms.
In a post on X, Dr Jaishankar expressed his appreciation for engaging with young diplomats from across the Global South.
“Delighted to interact with participants of the 3rd Global South Young Diplomats Forum. Spoke about the sentiment and solidarity driving forward the Global South agenda. And India’s steadfast commitment to articulate, assert, and amplify the voice of the Global South,” he said.
About the Forum
The Global South Young Diplomats Forum brings together young officers from foreign ministries across developing nations to discuss shared challenges and opportunities.
The first edition was hosted at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS) in New Delhi from November 20 to December 1, 2023. It featured representatives from 30 nations, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Argentina, and others.
The inaugural edition was opened by Gaddam Dharmendra, then-Dean of the SSIFS.
India’s Role in the Global South
Dr Jaishankar emphasized India’s continued efforts to:

The forum aims to deepen diplomatic cooperation, equip young diplomats with global perspectives, and build networks among future leaders from the Global South.
