ISLAMABAD, Sept. 12: The Islamabad High Court has agreed to hold an early hearing on pleas seeking the suspension of prison sentences for former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.
Both were convicted in January in the £190 million corruption case, with Khan receiving a 14-year sentence and Bushra Bibi seven years. The couple has since appealed the convictions, arguing that the trial court’s verdict was flawed and politically motivated.
The new hearing schedule is expected to be announced soon, potentially expediting the appeals process for the jailed former leader and his wife.
