State honours were given at Pashupati Aryaghat in Kathmandu as Nepal cremated victims of the Gen Z protests, with ministers in attendance.

KATHMANDU, Sept. 16: Funerals for several victims of the recent Gen Z protests in Nepal were held with state honours at Kathmandu’s Pashupati Aryaghat on Tuesday, while other bodies were transported to home districts for final rites.

Four bodies were cremated at the Pashupatinath temple grounds on the banks of the Bagmati river. Energy and Physical Infrastructure Minister Kulman Ghising and Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal joined grieving families to pay their respects during the ceremonies.

The victims were among those killed during the September 8 youth-led demonstrations demanding economic reforms, justice, and an end to corruption.
